About Me
I’m not a pastor, scholar, or professional apologist. I’m just a fellow disciple of Jesus Christ and student of the Word sharing my notes. I’m here to reach the lost, encourage and edify my brothers and sisters in Christ, and learn from fellow disciples.
Beyond that, I’m a husband and father of three, and I believe my first calling is to live out the Gospel at home by loving my family, being present, and depending daily on the grace of God. Professionally, I’m a non-practicing attorney, a former Army officer, and I work a full-time job. I’m actively involved in the local church, and I previously served as a co-host on CrossEyed Radio (WDCX 99.5 FM).
Though I was born again in 2005, for many years afterward I lived in a cycle of spiritual struggle — most notably, a deeply rooted pornography addiction that persisted despite my sincere efforts to be free. Everything changed, however, on May 8th, 2016. From that day forward, I’ve walked in complete freedom — not because of some new technique or strength I found in myself, but because I finally learned how to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit by placing my faith in what Jesus accomplished at the cross.
That breakthrough didn’t just change one habit; it redirected my entire walk with Christ. Since then, my growth has been steady and transformative — not perfect, but rooted in a different kind of dependence.
That experience is the heartbeat behind Matt’s Notes. I don’t speak from a platform of expertise or authority, but as a fellow brother in Christ — someone who’s been rescued, renewed, and is still learning. My desire is to help others find clarity, encouragement, and freedom through the truth of God’s Word and the power of the Gospel.
